Graves don’t have to be boring
Has the final resting place of your loved one become aged and weathered through years of exposure? Perhaps you’d like to spruce things up a bit with custom grave accessories? Keeping our family and friends’ burial site in pristine condition is the least we can do to celebrate their lives. At Enduring Memorials, we create and restore headstones, memorials and monuments, adding bespoke elements where desired. Our experience working with Sarina Cemetery allows us to create the best grave structures whilst working within their restrictions.
Having been in operation themselves since 2001, owners Jamie and Lenita Stewart continue to operate a site that’s been home to generations of monumental stonemasons. For over 100 years, local monumentals, plaques, accessories and custom memorials have been created from our location; alongside the provision of
grave restoration and other services. In the same vein as those who have come before us, we provide personal and compassionate service during what can be a very difficult period for our customers. Let us help you and your family – get in touch today.
Owners, Jamie and Lenita Stewart, have been operating locally since 2001, from their premises on Shakespeare Street. The site they currently use has been home to monumental stonemasons for over 100 years; a history that’s not lost on Jamie and Lenita who continue in the spirit of those that came before them. Our skills extend from creating monumentals, plaques and custom memorials to grave restorations, accessories and other services. Contact us to find out more.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Sarina Cemetery have rules around memorials and monuments?
Yes. There are rules laid out by Mackay Regional Council that determine the requirements when erecting a memorial or monument in Sarina Cemetery. These dictate the materials that can be used for construction, specifications, positioning, maintenance and who can build them. They also stipulate how long a temporary monument can remain before a permanent one is required. Before a permanent monument can be erected an application needs to be submitted including the intended plans. For help with the process, contact Enduring Memorials. We understand the rules like the back of our hand!
What’s the best material for headstones in Sarina?
The most common choices for creating headstones are currently granite, bronze, marble and sandstone. Granite is the standard choice due to its cost, durability over long periods of time and range of aesthetics – it can withstand dramatic changes in weather conditions whilst looking timeless. Bronze is often used for plaques and flat markers. It’s chosen for its lack of maintenance needs but this is reflected in the price. Marble can be used to produce more complex headstone designs and it looks amazing. The tradeoff is its high maintenance requirements, particularly with inscriptions. Sandstone is highly customisable and comes in a range of beautiful tones. However, durability is again an issue with moisture causing degradation over time. To help decide which material to use, call Enduring Memorials. We have experience using each in Sarina.
Enduring Memorials provide a high standard of memorials and monuments for the people of Mackay and surrounding communities. Our service includes the machining of stone, concrete and tiles, headstone refurbishments, garden and pet memorials and glass frosting.
